In perhaps the most entertaining Euro 2020 qualifier of the international break, Switzerland and Denmark shared a 3-3 draw.
There were two North London representatives on the pitch with Arsenal’s Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka taking on Danish Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.
And for 84 minutes, Switzerland were cruising. Xhaka got on the score sheet and was instrumental in attack and defence for the Swiss as they stormed to a 3-0 lead.
But Xhaka was substituted and then Switzerland fell to pieces. Three late goals ensured an exciting end to the game and a well-earned draw for Denmark.
Eriksen was at the heart of Denmark’s revival in the closing stages after a quiet game up until that point.
The Spurs star thrived with the added freedom in midfield after Xhaka went off and inspired Denmark to a comeback draw.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on this battle and it was clear who they thought had emerged with more merit.
Given the fact that Eriksen only woke up after Xhaka was substituted, Arsenal fans concluded that their midfield star was the one who kept the Tottenham man at bay.
Here are the best tweets from Arsenal fans discussing this international duel.
Xhaka bossed Eriksen all game, led Switzerland to a 3-0 advantage, comes off, and Switzerland end up drawing. You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.
