Arsenal’s poor run of form continued on Sunday evening as the Gunners suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at The Emirates – but Arsenal supporters have praised left-back Kieran Tierney.
The Gunners came into the match having failed to score in their last two Premier League matches – picking up just a point from those games against Leeds and Aston Villa. They got off to a poor start.
Adama Traore’s raw pace saw him beat Tierney on the win before hanging a ball up, which Leander Dendoncker crashed a header against the bar. Pedro Neto was on hand to slam the ball home on the rebound.
Arsenal’s strikers have been struggling of late and defender Gabriel showed them how to do it, equalising with a great header after a deep cross from Willian – just three minutes after Neto’s opener.
But Wolves lead at the break, thanks to Daniel Podence. Neto drove forward and had a shot, only for Bernd Leno to parry his effort into the path of Podence who took his goal very well. The scoreline remained the same.
Tierney started and finished the match but failed to have an effect on the scoreline. However, Arsenal fans praised the Scottish star, taking to Twitter to applaud the £80k-a-week (Spotrac) defender – with some even suggesting he is given the captaincy.
