Arsenal fans agree with Cowley's comments about Azeez

Some Arsenal fans have reacted to Danny Cowley’s comments about Arsenal starlet Miguel Azeez.

The Portsmouth boss has waxed lyrical about the midfielder, claiming he is going to be a ‘top, top player’.

Azeez joined the south coast outfit on a season-long loan deal to gain experience.

He spent the summer pre-season with the Gunners first-team and even scored in the win over Watford.

The academy product has been a stalwart for the Gunners at various levels of youth football.

What On Earth Is Going On At Benfica?!

Azeez has made 33 appearances for the under-18s and 23 for the under-23s. All in all, the England under-20 international has scored 10 goals and registered six assists.

Prior to his move to Pompey, he was the under-23s’ captain for the start of the Premier League 2 campaign.

Azeez needs far more experience

Experience is crucial before you make the jump up to senior football.

It is very rare a player can start playing for the first-team before either a loan spell or an extended run in the youth sides.

People like Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood have proved otherwise in recent years. But, compared to the vast majority of young footballers in English football, the trio prove anomalies.

It would be unexpected if Azeez followed the example of his young Arsenal teammate.

Therefore the 18-year-old needs a few loan spells away from the first-team like Emile Smith Rowe.

If it worked for the talented 20-year-old, it may just work for Azeez.

Here is how some Arsenal fans reacted to Cowley’s comments…
