Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has commented on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and made quite a considerable claim about the Spanish boss in an interview with Sky Sports – prompting reaction from Arsenal supporters.
The two north London outfits do battle on Sunday in the first derby of the season between the two clubs. Both sides come into the match at opposite ends of the spectrum – Tottenham sitting top, but Arsenal struggling.
Spurs have enjoyed an excellent start to the 2020-21 campaign, excelling the Europa League and cruising to the top of the table with excellent wins over the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Southampton.
Meanwhile, The Emirates is a gloomy place at the moment, under Arteta. It has been more than a month since the Gunners last won a league match, but Dier reckons the Spanish boss is the best young manager in Europe.

“They’ve got a lot of quality,” Dier said. “I think they’ve got a very exciting young manager. Personally, from what I see, I think he is the most exciting young manager in Europe. I like the way he is, they’re in good hands.”
Dier has reinvented himself at centre-back and is expected to retain his place on Sunday, with Toby Alderweireld remaining on the sidelines through injury. Joe Rodon made his debut against Chelsea and could start again.
Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Dier has complimented Arteta ahead of Sunday’s game – but Gunners fans reckon the England defender is trying to play mind games on the ex-Manchester City assistant.
