Report: Edu and Arteta worry as multiple clubs now in talks to sign 'unstoppable' number one Arsenal target
According to the Daily Mail, a deal for Arsenal to sign Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk is not as done and dusted as some reports suggest.
Mudryk has emerged as the number one priority signing for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his squad in January and the injury to Gabriel Jesus has only intensified that need.
Reports in recent days have suggested a deal for Mudryk is being pushed from both sides. The player is said to want the move to The Emirates, while Arsenal are known to be keen for the deal to happen.
However, the Daily Mail has reported that things aren’t cut and dry just yet. Their report suggests that while there is definite interest from Arsenal, Shakhtar have actually engaged in talks with a number of clubs about signing Mudryk.
The Ukrainian club are clearly wanting to milk the situation for what they can. They are thought to be looking at bringing in a fee as close to £100m as they can get. However, Arsenal believe that can be brought down to a more realistic number in their books.
The ‘unstoppable‘ Mudryk has lit up football this season with his performances in Europe. Shakhtar, then, are keen to cash in as best they can.
TBR’s View: Arsenal still hold cards in Mudryk race
Given the Gunners have been in the mix for so long you would assume certain aspects of this deal are already down the line a bit. That should, in theory, give Arsenal an advantage here.
However, it’s clear what Shakhtar are doing. They are wanting to bring in as much money as they can for a player they see as being one of the best talents in Europe. And in fairness to them, that is the right thing to do.
