Arsenal looking at ‘complete’ striker wanted by Tottenham as Benjamin Sesko alternative

Arsenal are likely to be busy in the transfer market as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to apply the finishing touches to their squad.

Likewise, Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to bolster their ranks after spurning the opportunity to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

The Gunners have improved significantly since Arteta took the reins in 2019, but the Premier League title has sadly eluded them for the second season in a row.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs were in the Champions League picture until mid-April, but a loss of form meant they had to settle for the Europa League.

Arsenal are currently without an out-and-out No. 9, and you could argue that such a player may have made a big difference in the title race.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with Benjamin Sesko in recent weeks, but he is reportedly signing a new deal with RB Leipzig.

In wake of this setback, the Evening Standard has spoken about a number of other attackers who Arsenal are reportedly scouting, including one who has been heavily linked with Spurs.

The report claims that the Gunners have set their sights on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and are still keen on Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

‘Like Sesko, Zirkzee and Gimenez would offer Arsenal a different option in attack,’ they wrote. ‘While they also suit their model of being young and with potential to improve.’

Earlier this month, reports in Mexico – via The Standardsuggested that Gimenez has said ‘yes’ to a move to Tottenham.

It’s understood that the 23-year-old prefers a switch to London and therefore Spurs are in pole position to land his signature ahead of Liverpool.

Who is Tottenham and Arsenal target target Santiago Gimenez?

Gimenez was born in Buenos Aires and began his football journey at Mexico’s Cruz Azul, joining their academy and working his way up the ranks.

Feyenoord decided to sign the forward in 2022 for a reported £4.5million, and he has gone on to become a star for the Eredivisie outfit.

Gimenez has 49 goals and 11 assists from just 86 Feyenoord appearances overall, and this term, he has 26 goals and eight assists from 41 outings.

Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig has compared the left-footer to Manchester City and Norway superstar Erling Haaland.

In terms of Gimenez’s style of play, Kulig deemed him a ‘complete forward’ excelling in multiple traits like pace, athleticism, finishing, heading, instinct and movement.

And in terms of price tag, 90Min reported in April that Feyenoord want around £87million for their asset.
