Everton left it until the final hour to finalise their squad for the 2019/20 campaign. The Toffees snapped up Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi hours after the deadline.
Marco Silva had been linked with a move for Wilfried Zaha for weeks leading up to the cut-off. Crystal Palace didn’t want to sell him, however, so attentions were turned towards Iwobi.
A fee of £34 million was agreed for the Nigeria international and he ends a long-term association with the Gunners.

In 149 appearances in North London, Iwobi scored 15 goals and registered 23 assists.
His arrival on Merseyside completes a decent transfer window for the Toffees and Silva will hope to improve on last season.
Given that the number one target seemed to be Zaha, the signing of Iwobi might have proved underwhelming for Everton supporters.
Iwobi is a hard worker though and should bring determination, skill and creativity to Silva’s team.
Following his arrival at Goodison Park, Everton fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts.

The majority are positive and feel Iwobi will strengthen a squad that is perhaps short on wide options.
Here is a selection of tweets from Everton supporters following the addition of Iwobi:
