Arsenal fans react as Emile Smith-Rowe makes comeback from injury

Arsenal secured their first Premier League three points of the season on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park.

It was the perfect start for Unai Emery’s men who will go in search of a top-four finish during the 2019/20 campaign.

Last night it was the turn of the Arsenal under-23 team to kick-off their new season.

One man who was making his return to action was quality youngster Emile Smith-Rowe.

The 19-year-old went on loan to Red Bull Leipzig in January but first-team football wasn’t really forthcoming.

An attacking outlet could be ideal for Emery to call upon as the season progresses and some supporters will hope he can get up to match fitness quickly.

Smith-Rowe played the first half as Arsenal’s youngsters ran out 3-1 winners over Blackburn Rovers.

Another member of the first-team made his return in the game. Rob Holding featured for just over an hour and came through unscathed.

It was Smith-Rowe’s return which caught the eye, however, with some Gunners supporters calling for him to be included in Emery’s plans for the season.

Following the game, several Arsenal fans took to Twitter to speak of their delight at Smith-Rowe being back in action.
