Arsenal’s Under-23 team secured a big win over rivals Chelsea last night with the game played at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners ran out 3-1 winners over their London rivals.
Two of the goals were scored by Eddie Nketiah, whilst Carl Jenkinson helped himself to the other.
The 19-year-old has yet to really break into the first-team on a regular basis, although he has found himself on the bench quite a lot this season.
The future is definitely bright for Nketiah though and his goals last night highlighted his qualities around the penalty area.
He capped a superb night by claiming the assist for Jenkinson’s goal too. Nketiah now has nine goals and four assists from 10 outings for the Under-23 setup.
Arsenal fans are delighted with his progress. Following the game, they took to social media to rave about the youngster after he had firmly put Chelsea to the sword.
It remains to be seen when Nketiah will earn a regular chance to force his way into Unai Emery’s team. With the Gunners still chasing a top-four place, it does seem unlikely this season.
Following a masterclass in finishing from the youngster, we rounded up exactly what Arsenal fans were saying about the teenager.
We need to be patient with this young man. He has probably not made the first team impact he would’ve liked this season, but there is undoubtedly enough talent there to warrant significant first team minutes next season. I think he’s a ready-made Danny Welbeck replacement.
