Arsenal have decided that Eddie Nketiah will remain at the club for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
BBC Sport have reported that the striker who was expected to return to the Championship on loan, will now be part of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Nketiah was on loan at Leeds United during the first half of the season, scoring five times.
Game time was hard to come by in the Championship, however, with Arsenal unsatisfied.
Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest were the three clubs who Arsenal selected for Nketiah to hold talks with.
After discussions with the trio and Arteta, however, the forward will now fight for a place at Arsenal.
The 20-year-old has 19 appearances for the Gunners and will now look to add to his tally during the second half of this season.
This decision couldn’t have come at a better time. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will start a three-match ban this weekend following his sending off against Crystal Palace.
Arsenal fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that Nketiah is set to stay.
Some believe it’s a strange move and others see it as a decent idea by the football club.
Here is a selection of tweets from Arsenal supporters regarding the news surrounding their academy graduate:

Weird one this. Where’s he getting game time?

How those this help his development? The boy needs 90 minutes of football not 5-10 minutes cameo.

Makes a lot of sense. He is better off here learning the ways of how Arsenal and Arteta regime will work and also he will get time off the bench and maybe European games. I am glad he is staying.

Nketiah staying is good for us. He will do really well. I've seen Auba recently put so many good crosses in, and there's no one in front of goal to finish. Those chances are Eddie's bread and butter. He's also gonna be good in Arteta's high press as he's very fast and energetic.

Why am I seeing so many "if Nketiah stays Lacazette is off"? Can't we have 3 or 4 strikers like any other big team? Pretty obvious Arteta wants to have several options up front.

Strange decision, Auba, Laca & Martinelli are ahead of Nketiah in the pecking order.

Good mix of Class and Prospect.
