Arsenal fans were treated to some excellent news on Friday, as highly-rated youngster Gabriel Martinelli penned a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners confirmed on their official website that the 19-year-old attacker has signed a fresh long-term deal to commit his future to the North London club.

He’s made a stunning breakthrough into the first team this season, scoring 10 goals and supplying four assists in just 26 games across all competition so far.

The Brazilian forward is a versatile star that has shown he can contribute in wide or central attacking areas, which makes him such a vital part of Mikel Arteta’s group.

Martinelli posted an update on Instagram to confirm his new deal at Arsenal, which also prompted some reaction from some of his teammates.

Bukayo Saka, who also signed a new Arsenal deal at the beginning of July, responded with emojis on social media.

Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also commented on the post, with his message translating to: “Congratulations bro you deserve everything”.

TBR’s View – Martinelli has massive future ahead of him

Arsenal are yet to see Martinelli on the pitch since football resumed and he’s currently sidelined with a knee problem, but a fresh deal should be a real confidence boost and he’s got a huge ceiling on how good he could become in the future.

It’s obvious that the club are hugely underachieving and find themselves in a battle to secure a top-10 finish, but there are real positives moving forward with their crop of youngsters.

Martinelli has already shown he can stand out in first-team games with his dribbling and eye for goal, so it’s a real bonus that he views his long-term future with Arsenal.
