Arsenal have given an update on the Gunners’ official website and it claims that five players could return for Boxing Day’s clash against AFC Bournemouth in Mikel Arteta’s first match as manager- including Mesut Ozil.
Arteta takes control of his first game on Boxing Day aafter watching his new side draw 0-0 with another of his old teams Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. They face a Bournemouth side who have lost six of their last seven games.
The Gunners were without seven players through injury on Saturday, and the update on Arsenal’s website have stated five of those players could return. Calum Chambers, meanwhile, will miss out after picking up a fifth yellow card against Everton.
Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac will both miss Thursday’s clash, with Tierney undergoing successful surgery. The Scottish ace will be back in March, while Kolasinac is suffering with an ankle problem keeping him sidelines until January.
Ozil is back available for selection after missing the Everton draw, while Dani Ceballos has returned to training but it is unclear if he will be in with a shout of facing Bournemouth. Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Gabriel Martinelli are all being assessed.
Arsenal have an excellent history against Bournemouth, losing just once in 10 clashes between the two sides. The Gunners have won eight of those, and could now be boosted with Ozil, Ceballos, Bellerin, Holding and Martinelli in with a shout.
