Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is reportedly attracting interest from Italian top-flight club Lazio.

Cittaceleste has included the 28-year-old’s named on a list of potential targets for the January transfer window.

The report adds that Lazio’s director of football Igli Tare has contacted Arsenal about the centre-back.

Mustafi, who earns £90,000-a-week (Spotrac) at the Emirates Stadium, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Football London claimed last month that the German was hoping to seal a move away from North London during the current January transfer window.

TBR’s View:

Mustafi has had a stop-start season, making just nine appearances across all competitions, and an Arsenal exit in the near future looks likely.

With his deal expiring at the end of the season, the Gunners could at least make some money if they decided to grant his exit this month.

Lazio, who are seventh in Serie A and still in the Champions League knockout rounds, are the potential suitors.

His inconsistency at Arsenal has made him a scapegoat with supporters, as he’s shown that he is capable of strong performances on his day and a free move seems a good step in his career.

Mikel Arteta’s side are arguably stronger without him, but he’s provided a couple of memorable moments.
