Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has had a mixed time at the Emirates Stadium since breaking into the academy, with his inconsistent form something that frustrates supporters.
According to the Mirror, Barcelona were preparing a £40million move for the Spaniard in the summer transfer window of 2017.
The right-back remained with the Gunners and he looked nowhere near a £40million player during the 2017/18 season under Arsene Wenger, as he made regular defensive mistakes and started to lose his way.
But the 23-year-old now looks back on track under current boss Unai Emery and is slowly getting back to one of the full-backs in the Premier League.
The speed machine has proven he can be highly effective going forward when on form and he’s being encouraged to do just that in Emery’s system.
Bellerin’s decision making and crossing appears to have improved for Arsenal this season and he has already supplied four assists in 11 games.
He is still a young player that has plenty to improve on, but he is beginning to look a real force again for the North London club and it’s making more sense as to why Barcelona considered forking out the cash for him.
Bellerin is one of several players to already be transformed by Emery and he’s getting him to play to his strengths.
