West Ham’s Declan Rice would be an ideal summer signing for Arsenal

It doesn’t look like being an overly busy summer for Arsenal boss Unai Emery in the transfer market.

According to The Daily Mail, the Gunners boss will have a kitty of just £45 million to spend; whilst seven players could depart the Emirates Stadium on free transfers.

Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League, three points off the top four, and Emery was unable to strengthen in January due to a lack of funds.

Emery did manage to add Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez to his squad on loan but insufficient funds were available to pursue other targets.

If the Gunners are going to have such a small kitty to work with then they need to get their business right.

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has highlighted this season exactly how good he is going to be and he could bolster the Gunners no end.

The middle of the park has proved problematic for Arsenal for years now.

Lucas Torreira and Mattéo Guendouzi have both looked capable this season for the Gunners but reinforcements are still necessary.

Since a second-place finish in 2015/16, Arsenal have failed to reach the top four and that simply isn’t good enough.

The longer their Champions League exile goes on, the harder it will be for them to attract the stellar players in world football.

Rice would represent superb business for the Gunners, although it isn’t sure what the Hammers will demand for their main man just yet.

Some wheeling and dealing could be needed to wrangle the 20-year-old away from the London Stadium.

The combative midfielder should definitely be in Emery’s thoughts.
