Arsenal could face another transfer blow as Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic are talking to Odsonne Edouard in the hope of keeping him in Scotland.
Edouard is one of the hottest properties in Europe heading into this summer. His goals for Celtic have fired them to a ninth straight title. Indeed, a number of clubs are now keen, with Arsenal reportedly one of those clubs.
However, according to a report from Goal, Celtic are already looking to tie down the Frenchman. The report quotes Neil Lennon as saying ‘there are discussions going on at the minute’ in relation to Edouard.
Having smashed in 22 goals this season, Edouard knows that clubs are looking at him. But Lennon insists Celtic want him to stay, adding:
“He had a magnificent season this year and we want to keep him. It’s as simple as that. We’re doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season anyway.”
Former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has praised Edouard in the past. Ally McCoist was quoted on Talksport as saying Henry had told him he believed Edouard ‘could go right to the top’.
Arsenal have to start making moves or players will slip away – TBR View
Nearly every time a story comes up linking Arsenal with a player, it seems the Gunners don’t act.
If they allow Celtic to tie down Edouard without even making a proper play for him, then it would be a massive disappointment for their fans.
The Gunners are going to need a new striker. Aubameyang looks like he’s on his way and Alexandre Lacazette may also move on.
Furthermore, if Thierry Henry is recognising his talent, then that says a lot. Arsenal simply have to get a move on here.
