Report: Chance Arsenal will sign 'special' player before Thursday, Edu has done all the background checks already

There remains a small chance that Arsenal will still make a move to sign Leicester midfielder, Youri Tielemans, before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Tielemans has been on the radar of Arsenal all summer long but as yet, no official bid has come the way of the Belgian, who remains on the books at Leicester. However, Brendan Rodgers dropped him to the bench last week, while the Foxes boss also has an ongoing problem with Wesley Fofana as well.

And according to Goal, a move for Tielemans to Arsenal shouldn’t be entirely ruled out. It’s claimed by Goal that while there is an element of doubt over whether or not the Gunners will finally swoop, nothing can be ruled out. Crucially, it’s claimed that a lot of work has gone into potentially signing Tielemans, with Edu and his background team doing all the necessary due diligence.

Dubbed a ‘special‘ talent, Tielemans has been seen by many as the ideal signing in midfield for Arsenal. But with the midfielder available for nothing next summer, there seems to be a reluctance from the Arsenal side to part ways with too much money right now.

TBR’s View: Arsenal Should Still Sign Tielemans

We’ve said it all summer long but Youri Tielemans would be an icing on the cake signing for Arsenal. He really is top quality and all window it’s felt like he’d be the ideal signing for the Gunners.

Of course, you can understand the club’s reluctance to go too big in terms of a fee. However, the Arsenal board have really made strides in improving the squad this summer, and you do feel Tielemans would simply add to that further.

If Arsenal do make this move before the deadline and finally sign Tielemans, they’ll have had one of the best windows in some time from any team.
