Arsenal have been looking for a new striker for quite a long time now.
In January, all the talk was about the Gunners potentially signing Ivan Toney from Brentford, while, this summer, Viktor Gyokeres has consistently been linked with Arsenal.
However, throughout all of these links, Victor Osimhen is a player whose name just hasn’t gone away.
Indeed, Osimhen has been on-and-off linked with Arsenal for the best part of 18 months now, and with just a few weeks of this transfer window left, this rumour has cropped up again.
According to Di Marzio, Arsenal could re-enter the scene in the chase for ‘one of the best players in the world‘.

Arsenal could go back in for Victor Osimhen
According to Di Marzio, Arsenal could end up going back in for Victor Osimhen this summer.
This report states that Chelsea are now out of the race to sign Osimhen, and Arsenal could go back in for the Napoli star.
PSG are also credited with a strong interest in Osimhen, and it is said that the Ligue 1 champions are favourites to sign Osimhen.
As exciting a rumour as this is, it has to be said that a move to PSG does feel more likely than a move to Arsenal.
After losing Kylian Mbappe, PSG have plenty of room in their wage bill to sign more supersatrs, and they need a new marquee attacker to fill Mbappe’s boots.
What Mikel Arteta has said about a big signing this summer
As exciting a signing as Osimhen would be, this one doesn’t seem likely.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta has previously admitted that Arsenal won’t be making a huge signing this summer.
“Last season, we saw a huge investment in Declan Rice, a huge transfer fee. If a special player came on the market, are Arsenal able to go to that level again this summer?” Arteta was recently asked.
The Arsenal manager then replied: “We don’t expect to do anything like that at this moment, that’s the reality.”
Of course, we’ve known Arsenal managers hide the truth when it comes to big signings in the past – Arsene Wenger’s knowing grin the day before Mesut Ozil signed is still a famous image, but after spending over £200m last summer, Arsenal may not be in a position to land someone like Osimhen this time around.
