Arsenal could sign £70m player who fans aren’t even considering right now

Arsenal have a knack of making surprise signings from out of nowhere.

Indeed, the Gunners are very good at keeping their cards close to their chests and announcing signings from nowhere.

Jakub Kiwior joined Arsenal very quickly after the first rumours emerged, while Fabio Vieira agreed to join Arsenal without anyone hearing about it beforehand.

Of course, some signings are signposted a mile off – for example, Martin Zubimendi is set to sign for Arsenal and that was reported months ago.

Arsenal could shock a few people with a surprise signing this summer, and speaking on the Bhavss14 YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has been asked to name which player he thinks could be an out-of-the-blue signing this summer.

Interestingly, the journalist named Xavi Simons as one to watch at Arsenal.

Xavi Simons is one to watch at Arsenal

Jacobs was asked which player could join Arsenal that fans simply aren’t focused on right now.

According to the journalist, one left-field option could be Xavi Simons, claiming that the midfielder wants to come to England.

Tottenham have been keen on Simons in recent times, but Arsenal could steal a march here.

“Is there a player that Arsenal fans aren’t focused on right now? You know how Arsenal fans work, when the links come out that’s the player they want,” Jacobs was asked.

“There’s an outside chance depending on what the final price is, and this is more left-field because he is a central attacking midfielder, but Xavi Simons is one that Arsenal really like. We know Tottenham have looked as well and the player is very keen on a move to the Premier League,” Jacobs said.

“The challenge is that it was a complicated deal that saw him go to Leipzig, the total outlay was €80m (£70m) and the guaranteed fee was €50m, but if he leaves so soon, a lot of those add ons would not be paid.

“There’s a window of opportunity, so I would keep a small eye on Arsenal, but I don’t want to get anyone over excited needlessly.”

Arsenal could make a late left-field move for Simons, and that’s a deal that should have fans very excited to say the least.

Indeed, the Dutchman has been tearing it up in the Bundesliga as of late, and his stats from last season are remarkable.

17 goal contributions in 25 games is a ridiculous return, and there’s reason to believe Simons could continue that good form in England.

Simons tore the English national team to shreds at the Euros last summer, scoring a brilliant goal in the semi-finals, and he could well do the same against England’s best if he joins Arsenal.

This is certainly an exciting situation to keep an eye on.
