Arsenal could now sign the next Patrick Vieira for less than £25m in January, big PL title boost - TBR View

Arsenal have enjoyed a near-perfect first half of the season.

The Gunners sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table and are in the Europa League last 16.

With the World Cup putting a stop to club proceedings, Arsenal can now take stock and plan for 2023.

And there’s a good chance the Gunners will delve in the January transfer market.

Arsenal failed to sign a new midfielder and senior winger in the latter stages of the summer window.

They could look to put this right, and according to speculation, there’s one midfielder they’re seriously looking at.

That player is Danilo, who has been shining for Brazilian outlet Palmeiras.

90Min recently reported that the Gunners are in advanced talks with the 21-year-old.

Indeed, it’s claimed that a deal could even be announced before January.

Danilo helped his side with the Brazilian top-flight title this season, losing just three games in the process.

Despite being just 21 years of age, Danilo has already made 141 appearances for his club

He has also registered 12 goals and provided his teammates with nine assists.

Better still, Arsenal may be able to land Danilo for a modest fee.

Could Gunners land the next Gilberto?

On Twitter, fans have compared Danilo’s style of play to that Gilberto Silva, as well as Patrick Vieira and Granit Xhaka.

According to ESPN, Palmeiras would be willing to accept around €24m (£20.5m) for the player.

However, the Gunners could have competition from the likes of Ajax and Monaco.

Nonetheless, Arsenal have several notable advantages.

First of all, the Premier League is more high-profile than Ligue 1 and Eredivisie – and the Gunners top the table.

Secondly, Arsenal have a sizeable Brazilian contingent, which would help Danilo acclimatise to life at the club.

If the Gunners do get a deal over the line, this would increase Mikel Arteta’s strength in depth and help massively in pursuit of the title.

And in the coming years, Danilo will hopefully develop into a star just like Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli.
