Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window, with a new striker very much in their sights.
The Gunners failed to sign a new centre-forward this season which, combined with injuries in attack, has derailed their Premier League title hopes.
Fans and pundits alike had been calling for Arsenal to sign a new striker since last summer.
For instance, Ian Wright said a new centre-forward would have stopped Arsenal fans from worrying about their goals quite as much this season.
Now, a report has emerged claiming that the Gunners have set their sights on a striker who is “one of Europe’s most prolific players”.
Better still, said player is said to be available for under £45million.

Arsenal target Samu Aghehowa has £41m price tag
The player in question is Samu Omorodion Aghehowa, who has been in fine form for Porto this season.
Aghehowa has been a revelation since joining from Atletico Madrid last summer, with 19 goals in 31 games in all competitions.
Arsenal are in pursuit of Aghehowa along with Chelsea, West Ham and Aston Villa, according to CaughtOffside.
The report claims Porto have placed a price tag of €50million (around £41million) on the 20-year-old.
What Aghehowa could bring to Arsenal
At just 20 years of age, Aghehowa looks like he could be a future superstar, considering how prolific he has been and how much more he could develop.
He is a tall, physical and rapid centre-forward with many key traits including acceleration, finishing skills, aerial prowess, and superb work-rate.
Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig noted how he is “one of Europe’s most prolific players this season”, with a goal every 88 minutes as of 12 December 2024.
A few months earlier, Kulig noted how Aghehowa boasts impressive pace, physicality, aerial ability, bravery and shot power, giving him “such a complete profile for a striker of his age”.
Although Arsenal have just been incredibly unlucky with injuries this season, there’s no doubt that an out-and-out No. 9 was necessary even before their injury crisis up front.
Arsenal have also been linked with the likes of Alexander Isak and Dusan Vlahovic.
