Arsenal are set to sign a creative midfielder this summer. However, plans on bringing one into the club have so far backfired.
Emi Buendia signed for Aston Villa, whilst Martin Odegaard is looking likely to remain a Real Madrid player next season.

Things aren’t looking good for Arsenal. The Gunners currently only have one creative midfielder in their squad in the form of Emile Smith Rowe.
Indeed, with the transfer window yet to even open, the Gunners have plenty of time to assess and identify players who could fill this void in the squad.

And one interesting option could be in the form of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
Out the Chelsea exit door after one season
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, the Moroccan international is likely to leave the European champions this summer despite only joining last year.

Ziyech has struggled to nail a place in the Chelsea XI, with the creative ace only hitting six goals and four assists in 39 appearances in all competitions, the majority of which came off the bench under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.
The versatile winger is a player who Arsenal fans will know well.

The former Ajax star was heavily linked with a move in 2019. Furthermore, Ziyech admitted himself that playing for the Gunners is ‘the ultimate dream’ as per Ajax TV via the Sun.
Ziyech to Arsenal might be possible
Indeed, with Chelsea looking to sell and Arsenal seeking a creative midfielder, a deal for Ziyech ticks all the right boxes.

Add in the factor that the two clubs have regularly done business with one another, a transfer isn’t too crazy. Indeed, David Luiz and Willian both joined the Gunners in the past two windows from the west London side.
Although the playmaker is yet to rekindle his Ajax form for Chelsea, Ziyech could hit the ground running for Arsenal.

With a year of playing in the Premier League under his belt, the 28-year-old playmaker would be more accustomed to competing in the English top-flight. And this could be a huge factor for the Gunners should they decide to make a move for Ziyech.
The Gunners need a playmaker this summer, and with Ziyech a fan of the club and Arsenal losing out on their two main creative options, the former Ajax star could be a left-field alternative that could pay off for the Gunners.
