Arsenal could make a move to sign yet another player from Manchester City this summer.
The Gunners have gone toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola’s side for the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons
Mikel Arteta has fallen short on both occasions, but the North Londoners have had a good window so far and the imminent arrival of Mikel Merino to Arsenal will make them even stronger.
To further their chances of winning the title, Arsenal could make an audacious move to sign a Manchester City player and in turn, weaken them.
Here’s the latest on the situation.
Arsenal are keeping an eye on Manchester City star Julian Alvarez’s situation
Julian Alvarez has made the headlines for a number of reasons this summer.
The Argentine has made some comments that have led to rumours he could leave Manchester City in search of more game time – even though he played 54 times in all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign.
Those comments have reportedly irked Guardiola, who has always said that he will let a player go if they are not happy to be a part of his side.
The Mirror have now shared some more details.
The outlet reveals that Arsenal are monitoring Alvarez’s fall-out with Guardiola at Manchester City and could pounce if he becomes available.
The report claims that Arsenal planned to go into the new season without a new striker, but Alvarez’s situation could change that stance at the Emirates.
However, Manchester City, if they decide to let Alvarez leave, want an eye-watering £80 million including add-ons from Arsenal or any other interested club.
That is a lot of money for the Gunners, who are not expected to make any big buys in this window. But, the report claims that they could change their mind if Manchester City become ready to sell Alvarez.

Do Arsenal need Alvarez?
Alvarez is a terrific player, and he has shown his quality in the Premier League.
The Argentine has won it all for club and country in his short career already, and he has the potential to become an even greater player in the coming years.
However, £80 million is just way too much money for Alvarez because even though he is good in front of goal, he will not be someone who will guarantee 25 or 30 goals a season at Arsenal.
We don’t know what Arteta has in his mind, but if he is prepared to splash so much cash, we think Arsenal would be better off signing an out-and-out striker like Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres.
It will be interesting to see what will happen in the coming days, but we don’t think Arsenal need a player like Alvarez this summer, especially at that price tag.
