Arsenal could make move to sign £51m Premier League star who’s faster than Bukayo Saka

Amadou Onana has been labelled as ‘one to watch out for’ as Arsenal search for midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Mikel Arteta is expected to bolster his options in the middle of the park, with ongoing concerns over Thomas Partey’s fitness.

Partey’s future remains in doubt after the midfielder has managed just six appearances in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have already been linked with moves for a host of midfielders ahead of the summer, including Everton’s Amadou Onana

It was claimed just last month that the Gunners are at the ‘front of the queue’ to sign Onana.

Now, Charles Watts has shared an update on Arsenal’s interest in the £51 million-rated midfielder.

Arsenal still keen on Onana deal

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Watts admitted he wouldn’t be surprised to see Arteta’s side look at Onana once again this summer.

“Everton’s Amadou Onana could be one to watch out for,” the journalist said. “There were a lot of links with him in January.

“Again, I was told at the time that there was nothing concrete in that speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is someone Arsenal look at when the season ends.”

Despite Everton’s struggles this season, Onana has impressed in the middle of the park under Sean Dyche.

The Belgian midfielder has racked up 22 appearances this term, netting two goals on the process.

Should Arsenal move to snap up the midfielder, he would certainly add athleticism to Arteta’s midfield.

The Everton midfielder clocked a top speed of 36.65kmph this season, as per the Premier League’s official website. That would make him the fastest player in the Arsenal side if he did make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Indeed, according to SpeedsDB, the midfielder is even faster than both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, with the two wingers clocking up top speeds of 33.9 kmph and 33.21 kmph, respectively.

Of course, there is more to football than just pace but Onana seems to be a well-rounded midfielder who would suit Arteta’s style of play.

It’s no surprise to see the Everton star linked with big moves and this will be a deal to keep an eye on this summer.
