Arsenal could help Reece Oxford achieve real potential after West Ham disappointment

It’s looking increasingly likely that promising defender Reece Oxford could bring a frustrating spell at West Ham with a move to an end this January. Unai Emery may be the ideal man to turn his career around at Arsenal.

The Mirror believe that the Gunners are monitoring the situation of the 20-year-old, alongside Everton, whilst Football London say that the Hammers have set the asking price at £10 million.

Emery has an impressive track record of developing young players and turning them around for a profit, as was essential to his plan at Sevilla, and Oxford could be the latest player to benefit.

Struggling for consistency having been relegated to under 23 football only in east London, Oxford knows that he must be on the move in order to avoid his career stagnating under Manuel Pellegrini.

If Emery is willing to put his faith in the England under 20 international by spending £10 million on him in January, then it may be the kind of spark that he needs to kick-start his career.

Given the high hopes that many have held for the central defender, it seems that such a move may be a gamble worth taking for those in charge at the Emirates Stadium.
