Arsenal are one of several Premier League sides set to scout Leon Bailey on Thursday, according to a report from the Daily Mail this week.
Bailey has been outstanding in recent times for Bayer Leverkusen. He scored five goals for the club in all competitions in November.
And his form is not going unnoticed. The Daily Mail reports that the Gunners will send a representative to watch the £36 million-rated 23-year-old in the Europa League this week.
However, Mikel Arteta’s men are not the only side to register an interest. The Mail also notes that Tottenham, Everton and Manchester United are also set to send scouts. Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will also be represented.
So it would appear that Arsenal would face a lot of competition for Bailey if they did decide to make a move.
But perhaps, there is an obvious trump card Arteta has up his sleeve should he want to make a bid.
It was claimed by Sky Sports in September that Leverkusen were in talks with the Gunners about signing Sead Kolasinac.
Of course, a move would not take place. But as things stand, it would be little surprise to see the Bosnian leave in a future window. As noted by Sky, his contract at the Emirates expires in 2022.
It is not clear whether Leverkusen retain any interest in the left-back. But if they are still keen, perhaps Arsenal should use Kolasinac in any future bid for Bailey to make it more appealing.
