Arsenal may finally have the chance to land David Alaba this summer, with the Bayern Munich man being considered for sale if he doesn’t sign a new deal with the German club.

According to reports from The Telegraph this week, Bayern are apparently willing to let Alaba go. This, despite his contract not expiring until next summer.

It is apparent that the German champions want to bring some money in for the Austrian. If Alaba decides against a new deal, Bayern will not waste time and will look to sell him. The same report claims PSG are among those interested.

However, it could well be the prime time for Arsenal to revisit their previous interest. Indeed, back in March, The Express claimed the Gunners had identified Alaba as a potential target.

So, with the situation taking a turn over in Germany, do Arsenal now find themselves in a prime spot to land the versatile Munich star?

A Gunners fan at heart, a move would be ideal for both parties

It can be easy to simply link a player with a move to a club without substance. However, in the case of David Alaba and Arsenal, there is more to it than just a speculative link.

Alaba has previously admitted to being a big fan of Arsenal. Per a report from 90 Min, Alaba admitted to being a lifelong Gunner.

“Yes, I was [an Arsenal fan as a child]. When you’ve been Arsenal fan as a kid you will be one your whole life in some way,” Alaba was quoted as saying.

Surely, then, Mikel Arteta will fancy his chances of convincing the Austrian that The Emirates is the best place for him?

In addition, let’s not forget Alaba is a class act, with a winning mentality, and the ability to play all over the pitch.

At a time when Arsenal need leaders, he is right up there in the right sort of mould. The one bridge to cross could be his wages, with WageIndicator suggesting Alaba earns around £170k-a-week.

However, if you want to progress, sometimes you need to spend. This is a move that makes perfect sense for Arsenal.
