Arsenal could finally get Yves Bissouma, with Potter tipped to replace Arteta

Arsenal enjoyed a busy summer transfer window under Mikel Arteta and Edu this summer, spending over £150m on new additions.

The likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, and Nuno Tavares were all added to the squad. And despite the lack of a star name signing as such, Arteta now has many of the players he wanted to suit his system.

However, the pressure is also building. The Gunners have endured a miserable start to the Premier League season. And unsurprisingly, the rumour mill is already going into overdrive when it comes to Arteta.

Names touted

TeamTalk have claimed that both Thomas Frank and Graham Potter are being eyed as potential replacements for the Arsenal boss. Brentford boss Frank has impressed, leading the Bees to the Premier League.

Potter, meanwhile, continues to keep Brighton afloat, all the while playing an attractive brand of football. He was linked with the Spurs job in the summer, and is clearly on the radar of a number of clubs.

And while both of those names will perk the interest of Gunners fans, the name of Potter could have that bit more behind it thanks to Arsenal’s long-standing interest in Yves Bissouma.

Qualities

Arsenal have been linked with Bissouma for some time now. The Sun claimed back in May that a £40m deal was being lined up by both the Gunners and Liverpool.

Of course, Arsenal moved to sign Albert Lokonga for the middle of the park.

But Bissouma is someone who can slot into the fold with ease. He’s a proven Premier League player already, and despite Arsenal handing Granit Xhaka a new deal, it goes without saying that most Gunners would rather see the Swiss star replaced.

Bissouma could be that man. And should Potter make the move to The Emirates, then the chances of the Gunners landing him increase further.

He’s already admitted he’s relish a move to North London. It goes without saying, then, that should Potter move to Arsenal, then a £40m deal for Bissouma seems a logical next step.
