Last summer, Arsenal were chasing a midfield playmaker and Barcelona’s Andre Gomes was identified as a target.
The London Evening Standard reported Arsenal’s summer interest in Gomes but he moved to Everton instead.
The Portugal international has been a revelation for Everton, dictating play with some confident midfield displays.
And with Aaron Ramsey due to leave Arsenal either this month or in the summer, Unai Emery needs to step up his hunt for a new midfielder in the Welshman’s mould.
Arsenal could replicate Everton’s success with Gomes if they bring in Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.
Like Gomes, Suarez is a talented and technically gifted central midfielder but he is struggling for game time at the Camp Nou.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal want Suarez and the player is keen on a move to The Emirates Stadium.

The 25-year-old previously played under Emery at Sevilla so the Arsenal boss knows exactly how good he can be.
But after featuring just four times – all of which have been off the bench – this season, Suarez needs to leave Barcelona.
The once-capped Spain international can resurrect his career at Arsenal as Ramsey’s successor.
Arsenal are said to be chasing a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer and this could be perfect business for Emery this January.
Like Gomes, Suarez can prove just how good he is when he moves away from Barcelona.
