We’re entering the final two weeks of the January transfer window, and this is where panic starts to set in.
Clubs begin to believe in the discussions about what they need to do before the window closes and they spring into action late in the day to try to salvage their seasons.
One team who may well need to salvage their season is Arsenal.
The Gunners have won just one of their last seven games and their title challenge is quickly becoming a top four push.
The wider narrative is that Arsenal need a striker through the door this month, and while Mikel Arteta’s side have resisted making a move so far, these final two weeks could see the Gunners become more and more desperate.
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Alex Crook has been discussing Ivan Toney’s situation, and while he says a move is unlikely this month, he does note that if Arsenal get desperate, a big bid could come in.

Big Toney bid could arrive
Crook shared his verdict on the ‘world class’ striker.
“I think he knows that a move this window is unlikely, but someone might get desperate, Arsenal might just decide that if they are going to win the title they have to slap £80m down for Toney, Chelsea might think they need a number nine, I can’t see it happening but he’s not going to rule it out at this stage,” Crook said.
Late drama
This transfer window has been so dull so far, but don’t discount the idea of there being some late drama here.
We’ve seen it time and time again where clubs spring into action from nowhere late in the January window, and Arsenal may be about to do just that.
A bad result this weekend may only increase the feeling of despair around the Emirates, and at that point the higher-ups may be forced to do something drastic.
Maybe, just maybe, there could be a twist in this saga before deadline day.
