Arsenal are enjoying an outstanding season that could yet see them achieve silverware this season.

However, no club can rest on their laurels. The Gunners will likely be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to fine-tune their squad.

Arsenal’s midfield is an area the club is reportedly looking to invest in amid uncertainty over the futures of several of their midfielders.

Fabio Vieira hasn’t been playing regularly for the Gunners, so it remains to be seen what his future holds beyond the summer.

Meanwhile, Albert Sambi Lokonga has been out on loan at Luton Town, so he’s another one who may or may not feature in Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.

What does future hold for Thomas Partey at Arsenal?

Then we have Thomas Partey’s bittersweet situation. The Ghana international is no doubt one of the best midfielders in the world, but his injury record is concerning.

Partey has only made seven appearances all season for Arsenal. And with his contract expiring at the end of next season, he’s running out of time to earn himself an extension.

Reports have been doing the rounds in recent days suggesting the Gunners have identified a potential long-term replacement for the 30-year-old.

The likes of Chronicle Live and the Evening Standard have linked Arsenal with FC Nordsjaelland prodigy Mario Dorgeles.

As well as the Gunners, the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brighton, Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Marseille are apparently monitoring Dorgeles too.

Furthermore, Manchester United-bound director Dan Ashworth reportedly admires the player as well, so we could well see links with the Red Devils in future.

Arsenal target Mario Dorgeles – factfile

Dorgeles is one of the top talents at Nordsjaelland, the Danish club owned by the iconic Right To Dream academy, which offers pathways to Europe for Africa’s best talent.

Many good things have been said and reported about the Ivory Coast youth international in terms of his quality and potential.

For instance, Chelsea legend Michael Essien reportedly named the 19-year-old as one of the three top talents at Nordsjaelland in 2023.

Dorgeles was listed alongside Ernest Nuamah, who has since joined Lyon, and Ibrahim Osman, who is now at Brighton.

Pano Scout, meanwhile, provided an in-depth scouting report about the reported Arsenal target on X.

‘Comfortable with the ball at his feet and also able to make some progressive runs on his own and break the lines with through passes with his weak foot too,’ they wrote.

‘An energetic midfielder comfortable playing in a more advanced role, able to come back to defend and steal the ball.

‘Very good at immobilizing his opponents at all times during the process of recovering the ball from the opposing team.

‘Fairly good durability in ground duels which makes him useful on the counter attack as he is adept at being in various parts of the field to help out.’

Dorgeles looks like a top talent and the Gunners will certainly fancy their chances of beating rival suitors to his signature, particularly if they triumph in the league or Europe.
