Arsenal are in a good place right now, boasting an impressive 10-match unbeaten run and close to the Premier League top four.

With the international break currently under way, many Gunners players are currently away, with the others continuing to train at London Colney.

One of those is Cedric Soares, who has 34 Portugal caps but is not in the squad for their latest World Cup qualifiers.

The 30-year-old joined Arsenal in 2020, initially on loan from Southampton in January, and signed permanently in the summer.

However, Cedric has struggled for game time under Mikel Arteta, with just 34 competitive appearances under his belt.

And with summer signing Takehiro Tomiyasu cementing his place at right-back, the £75,000-a-week man faces a big battle to win it back.

That said, Cedric is certainly showing the right attitude to stake his claim.

ESPN reports that Arsenal coaches have been impressed by his willingness to work.

Cedric, who took part in an interview with the outlet, also said: “I’m there fighting.

“Every week, every day, I will be there knocking [on the door], making [Arteta] a problem – in a good way – that he needs to think who to put on the pitch.

“Of course, it is his decision. I respect that and he knows that.

“But I will not make it easier. Never. This is how I grow up in my career: fight and win.”

This is exactly what Arsenal need if they are to get back to the top – talented, hard-working players with the right drive and attitude to keep standards high and give the manager a selection headache.
