Arsenal can’t let Tottenham win the race for 22-goal Wolves star

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez is reportedly attracting summer interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, according to a report by ESPN.

The prolific talisman has been in fine form during 2019/20 scoring 22 goals and registering 10 assists since his £30 million move from Benfica (BBC).

Last season he fired Wolves into Europe with 17 goals and it’s no surprise that his form is attracting interest from the league’s big hitters.

If he is to leave Molineux during the summer then Arsenal must ensure that he doesn’t choose Tottenham as his preferred destination.

Quite simply, the Mexican hotshot could be the man to turn the Gunners into regular Champions League participants once again.

At 28 the player with 82 caps for Mexico is at the peak of his powers and the £41,000-a-week star could prove perfect for Mikel Arteta.

With Arsenal facing the prospect of missing out on the Champions League again next season, some players could leave.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might both pursue other avenues if a place at Europe’s top table isn’t secured, leaving the Gunners with a void to fill.

Jimenez boasts tremendous work-rate, quality finishing and a high level of determination in front of goal.

Tottenham have Harry Kane spearheading their attack and although other clubs will want him, the prospect of him leaving is lower than Aubameyang departing Arsenal.

Feared

The beauty of signing Jimenez is that he is a proven marksman at Premier League level.

There’s be no settling in period and he’d relish the opportunity to become a hero in the eyes of the Arsenal faithful.

With the prolific Mexican leading the line there would be an element of fear about the Gunners once more, making him exactly the sort of player that Arteta needs.

Next season will be a big one for Arteta and for Arsenal. If Jimenez is added, it could be one to remember.
