Arsenal can go from strength to strength with White and Gabriel
Arsenal’s issues have been seen by all this season.
Mikel Arteta has a serious project on his hands, but he needs time to deliver it.
He’ll earn himself some time if he can get his side to string together some clean sheets.
In the first three games of the season, the Gunners shipped nine goals.
Then, against Norwich, we saw their first clean sheet of the season.
That game against Norwich was the first time that Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes started together in the league.
That certainly isn’t a coincidence.
The pair are certainly the best defenders that Arteta has at The Emirates, and it’s about time they struck up a partnership.
Gabriel has the ball-winning and aerial abilities, whilst White is fantastic at bringing the ball out from the back.
There are certainly issues at the top end of the pitch.
Goal scoring has been a real issue for Arsenal, but let’s deal with one problem at a time.
In Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney, Arsenal have a strong pair of full-backs.
Now, though, with Gabriel and White in between them we might get a chance to see a settled back four.
That would go a long way to setting Arsenal up for a rise up the Premier League.
If you can’t win a game, not losing it is the next best thing.
With that being the case, keeping clean sheets is what the Gunners have to prioritise.
With this new found partnership, we may get to see a few more clean sheets at The Emirates.
It’s clearly what the club needs, and if the next few weeks can see the pair rock up some minutes together then it will only be a boost for Arsenal.
We’ll see, however, how they hold up against an aerial bombardment when they face Burnley this weekend.
