Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has waxed lyrical about West Ham boss David Moyes during his pre-match press conference with Football London, ahead of his weekend’s game with the Hammers.

The Gunners will welcome Moyes’ team to North London with both teams in need of the points for very different reasons.

Arsenal still have aspirations of breaking into the top four, whilst West Ham must continue to pull clear of the relegation zone.

Arteta played under Moyes for seven years as a player for Everton and the Spaniard knows exactly what sort of threat his team possesses this weekend.

He told Football London: “They cause a lot of problems for the big teams.

“I worked with David for seven years and I know how structured they will be.

“The thing I admire the most is how he treated people and builds a culture at the club. I spoke with him a few times. He’s always been really supportive.

“He’s extremely demanding and has that impulsive Scottish character, I spoke with him a few times before taking the Arsenal job.”

A win this weekend could really breathe life into Arsenal’s push for a top-four finish.

They are currently eight points adrift of Chelsea but have played a game less than Frank Lampard’s team.

All the Gunners can do is keep winning and see where it takes them. Their form in the league has been decent and they must keep that up.

Moyes led West Ham to a good win last week against Southampton which lifted them out of the relegation zone.

The Hammers know they can’t rest on their laurels, however, and although their performances of late have been good, they must keep it up.

It looks set for an absolute cracker this weekend and Arteta will hope to be the apprentice coming out on top of his master.
