- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Arsenal had a good summer transfer window but there was certainly room for improvement.
The Gunners brought in Mikel Merino, Riccardo Calafiori and Raheem Sterling but failed to really add more quality towards the top end of the pitch.
With that said, TBR Football now understands that Arsenal would really like to sign a world class player from the continent, though, they aren’t alone in their interest.

Arsenal really want to sign Florian Wirtz
TBR Football understands that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen’s talisman Florian Wirtz.
The Gunners love Wirtz and recognise him as one of the best young talents in the world but we are told they are not alone in their interest.
Arsenal have also been watching Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, who is yet to pledge his long-term future to the Bundesliga side.
Wirtz is expected to leave next summer along with Xabi Alonso and Arsenal are set to be at the front of the queue to sign him.
The North Londoners have been scouting the German youngster this season.
Florian Wirtz price tag
Leverkusen are expected to demand around £125m for Wirtz, so evidently, any forthcoming suitors will have to have significant backing from above.
It’s believed the 21-year-old has aspirations of winning the Ballon d’Or, so he’ll be weighing up if that’s possible at Arsenal.
A telling year lies ahead for Wirtz and Arsenal, who are clearly looking to add a superstar signing to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
