Arsenal have been dealt a big blow with Spanish outlet AS reporting that Real Madrid have brought an end to talks over another move for Dani Ceballos as they want to keep the midfielder in pre-season.
Ceballos established himself as a key target for many Gunners fans during the latter stages of last season. He was poor during the early stages of his loan spell at the Emirates.

However, he had been outstanding following Mikel Arteta’s appointment. And AS reports that Arsenal had been in talks with Los Blancos for weeks over a potential deal that would see the 23-year-old stay at the Emirates for next season at least.
Unfortunately, it appears that Arsenal’s hopes of keeping Ceballos are in danger of being dashed.

According to AS, Madrid have decided to take another look at Ceballos in pre-season. In fact, it is suggested that talks between the two clubs have been brought to a halt.
TBR View: Gunners must not give up on Ceballos
The report does note that Ceballos’s dream is to make the grade at the Bernabeu. However, his priority for next season is to play regularly with the European Championships ahead.
So perhaps, there is still hope for Arsenal if Ceballos pushes to leave. He may not receive the kind of opportunities in pre-season that fill him with confidence for the coming campaign.
Meanwhile, Madrid could always make another u-turn and decide that he is not needed next term.
Arsenal fans would be forgiven for hoping that he looks a lot more like the player who struggled under Unai Emery in the coming weeks, than the star who was key during the final months of his loan spell.
