There are just days to go in the transfer window, and Arsenal are finally making their move.

Arsenal have been linked to Mathys Tel over the past 24 hours, but the big bombshell at Arsenal was the news that they had bid for Ollie Watkins.

Arsenal made an offer for Watkins on Wednesday afternoon, and while that bid that was duly rejected, the Gunners are ready to make a second offer.

Arsenal aren’t backing down on this one, and for good reason.

According to The Mail, Arsenal believe that Ollie Watkins could be the signing to ignite their title push.

Arsenal currently sit six points behind Liverpool in the title race with the Reds having a game in hand on the Gunners.

Arsenal do have plenty of ground to make up, but the internal thinking at Arsenal is that Watkins is the type of player who will help them eat into Liverpool’s lead.

It’s not hard to understand why Arsenal are thinking about Watkins in this way. After all, he’s a proven goalscorer at this level, and he’s not afraid to step up in the big moments either.

Arsenal believe that Watkins can reignite their title push, and it’s easy to understand why the Gunners view the striker in this way.

Indeed, Watkins has been on fire for Aston Villa over the past 18 months, and if he can bring that level of form to the Emirates, Arsenal’s attack will have that extra spark they’ve been lacking for so long.

Not only is Watkins lethal in front of goal, he’s also great at stretching defences and creating chances for others.

On top of that, Watkins already has a decent relationship with Bukayo Saka after playing with him for England, so it shouldn’t take him long to settle into that attack either.

Whether or not Arsenal can sign Watkins this month remains to be seen, but this transfer could be the difference between becoming league champions and a third-consecutive second-place finish.

Arsenal have needed a superstar striker for a long time now, and they finally seem to have found the right man for what they need.
