During the summer, talk was plentiful about how Arsenal were going to raise funds for transfer targets.
The Gunners, like many other teams, had been impacted by the global health crisis and new signings were going to be difficult to pull off.
In the end, only Emi Martinez was a permanent sale, with Sead Kolasinac’s proposed move to Bayer Leverkusen reportedly falling through and Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira both completing loan moves.

Another player that was being linked with an Arsenal departure, was Hector Bellerin.
The Spaniard was reportedly being eyed up by Paris Saint-Germain, with the Guardian claiming back in September that the French champions had lodged a bid worth £30 million in total.
Bellerin was understood to be a potential means of raising cash, but a suitable offer was ultimately never forthcoming.
A move away from north London never materialised for the 25-year-old, and given the player’s start to 2020/21, it seems the club have avoided a major blunder.
TBR’s View – Bellerin continues to improve
Following his serious knee injury against Chelsea in January 2019, Bellerin has struggled to recapture the form he was showing a few years ago.
In his early twenties, Bellerin was viewed by many as one of the Premier League’s most exciting full-backs.

He lost his way a little after his injury, and it could be that the player’s confidence took a big knock, with the team also performing poorly.
But Arteta’s arrival just under a year ago was a great thing for the ex-Barcelona youngster, and his form so far in 2020/21 has been quietly excellent.
Right wing-back seems to really suit him and his marauding style, and fans should be delighted with the work he has put in to get back to his best.
Who knows how close he actually came to leaving during the last transfer window, but Arsenal are certainly better off for having him in their team.
