'Arsenal asked': Agent says Arteta and Edu have enquired about signing the new Mbappe
Liubliana Nedelcu, the agent of FCSB attacker Ianis Stoica, has confirmed to News TVS 24 that Arsenal are interested in signing the young Romanian.
A lot is expected of the Gunners in the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s side spent a lot of money in the summer, but that hasn’t got them to where they want to be. It’s unlikely that they’ll go big again next month, but they certainly need help.
Arsenal fans will be hoping for at least one big signing, preferably a striker. The likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been linked, but if the report is to be believed, the Gunners are also keeping an eye on a teenager who has never played in one of Europe’s big leagues.
Edu and Mikel Arteta have enquired about Stoica, claims the youngster’s agent.
Arsenal have enquired about Ianis Stoica
Nedelcu, who reportedly replaced Anamaria Prodan as Stoica’s agent, seemed annoyed by the fact that people are addressing the rumours about her client and Arsenal as ‘possible interest’.
She made it clear that the interest from Arsenal is ‘real’.
Nedelcu said yesterday regarding the rumours linking Stoica with a move to the Emirates: “The first time Arsenal asked about Ianis Stoica was in early October, October 8, to be exact, and all the talk about a ‘possible interest’ is pointless because the interest is real, not possible.
The report reveals that Arsenal offered £8.5 million to FCSB to sign the teenager and even included a 20 per cent selling-on fee in the deal. However, the Romanian side’s owner, Gigi Becali, turned it down immediately.
The FCSB chief wants to hold on to Stoica for a few more years as he’s convinced that the youngster’s value will go up considerably. That complicates things for Arsenal, but if their interest really is genuine, Edu and Arteta should be able to get this deal over the line in one of the next two transfer windows.
