Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have signed an absolute 'joy' of a player
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has waxed lyrical about Gunners defender Takehiro Tomiyasu following his Player of the Month triumph.
The Arsenal summer signing picked up the September accolade after helping the club to 10 points out of 12.
Arsenal were in dire straits prior to Tomiyasu’s arrival, having lost their first three Premier League games of the season.
However, the 22-year-old has helped shore up the Gunners defence, who have conceded just once in September.
It’s not taken long for Tomiyasu to become a fan favourite at the Emirates thanks to his talent, attitude and love for the club.
Indeed, Arteta says his new player is “so excited” to be at Arsenal and you can tell he feels he’s living the dream.
The Arsenal media team asked the manager what managing Tomiyasu is like, and he replied: “A joy.
“He is so excited, you can see that for him it is a dream to be here and he is doing it in the right manner.
“With the passion but with the right commitment, and as well with the right amount of self assurance that he is capable of doing it.
“I’m very impressed, he has done it in a really natural way.
“It puts a smile on your face when you look at him, for how he communicates, how he is.”
