Arsenal appear to have clear run to sign 'unstoppable' attacker right now - Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that Arsenal now appear to have a clear run to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk now.
Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar look set to dip into the market for attacking reinforcements in January after Gabriel Jesus’ recent injury.
The Brazilian is now facing up to three months on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury during the World Cup.
Now, in the latest update on Mudryk’s future, Romano says Arsenal could actually be the only club in the race to sign him at this moment in time.
Arsenal have clear run to sign Mudryk
Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano suggested that the Gunners are the only club trying to sign Mudryk right now.
“At the moment it’s Arsenal pushing for Mykhaylo Mudryk but there’s still no advanced negotiation on the fee,” the transfer insider said.
“Everton and Brentford wanted him in the summer, Brentford were actually first European club to move for Mudryk many months ago thanks to Lee Dykes who wanted him.”
Shakhtar have publicly claimed that they value Mudryk at around £86 million after his brilliant start to the season. The Athletic have suggested that the Ukrainian outfit would be willing to accept a lower fee though.
The 21-year-old really caught the eye with his Champions League displays, scoring three times and assisting twice before Shakhtar were knocked out at the group stage.
Mudryk has already made it clear that he would be open to the idea of move to the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal will be hoping they can drive his price down during negotiations.
It could also benefit them massively if they are indeed the only team in the race to sign him, with Shakhtar most likely keen on a bidding war for their ‘unstoppable’ winger.
Arsenal certainly need to bolster Arteta’s squad in January if they want to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League. After Jesus’ injury, it’s become even more vital that they provide their boss with another attacking option.
