Arsenal and Newcastle target Wesley Moraes ends goal-drought but January Premier League switch is surely unlikely

Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes finally ended a torrid run of form in front of goal by netting the winner in Sunday’s victory over Oostende.

Wesley netted from the penalty spot to seal a comeback 2-1 victory and end a barren run dating back to early November.

Over two-and-a-half months after netting his last goal for the Belgian top division side, Wesley finally ended his goal-drought.

The Brazilian forward would be hoping that this will find him back on the radar of Premier League clubs but it is surely unlikely given his poor recent form.

In early December, Arsenal were linked with Wesley in a £15m deal (The Sun). Then, in early January, Newcastle United, West Ham and Cardiff City were linked with the €25m-rated attacker, as per Belgian media outlet HLN.

When the former Trencin striker scored in Club Brugge’s shock 4-0 win away at Monaco in the Champions League, he was hot property.

With nine goals in 16 games, it was no surprise to see Wesley linked with a move to the Premier League this January.

But he his form has dipped and that ultimately looks like costing him a switch to England this month, despite his recent goal from the penalty spot.
