An 18-year-old striker reportedly wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool who models himself on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named in Goal’s NxGn 2020 list of the 50 best footballers born on or after 1 January 2001.
According to a Transfermarkt report from December last year, the Gunners and the Reds are going head-to-head for the services of Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.
The 18-year-old, who follows players “that have a similar playing style to mine, like Arsenal’s Aubameyang for example”, enjoyed a stellar loan spell at farm team FC Liefering, claiming nine goals and eight assists in 14 Austrian second division appearances.

Now back with Salzburg, Adeyemi has already featured for the senior side, playing 45 minutes in the Europa League last-32 first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Germany youth international is being touted for a huge future, and although he committed his future to Salzburg until 2024 in January, signing a new deal, he still wants to play in a “top league” one day (Sportbuzzer).
Goal has ranked him at number 24 in their NxGn 2020 list, writing: “Ognen Zaric worked with Karim Adeyemi in Unterhaching’s Under-17s side and has never been in any doubt that the striker is destined to achieve great things. “He was born for the top,” the coach told Goal last November. “With him, I see no limit.”
“Zaric’s faith in Adeyemi is understandable, given the 18-year-old Munich native spent the first half of this season scoring freely during a loan spell at FC Liefering before being recalled by parent club Red Bull Salzburg, who beat Chelsea and Liverpool to his signature in 2018.”
