Arsenal and Chelsea both ask for inside track on £60m striker who wants Premier League move

Both Arsenal and Chelsea were thought to be in the mix to sign a new striker before the new Premier League season began.

Neither Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have struggled to score goals of late, but it’s thought that alternatives were being sought to Kai Havertz and Nicolas Jackson respectively.

Both strikers have earned and deserve their starting role, but perhaps each could benefit from more direct competition moving forward.

That being said, TBR Football understands that Arsenal and Chelsea have asked to be kept informed about Dusan Vlahovic’s situation in recent weeks.

Dusan Vlahovic has been stalling over his new Juventus contract

Vlahovic has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, a 24-year-old striker who has already scored 82 goals in the Serie A.

Despite interest from England, Juventus are confident that Vlahovic will agree to sign a contract extension, with the Serbian currently enjoying life under his new manager, Thiago Motta.

Juventus have made an unbeaten start to the season across all competitions, with Vlahovic netting seven goals in ten games.

The striker’s current deal expires in 2026 and he failed to find an agreement to extend in talks with Juventus that took place earlier this year.

Talks have now resumed and the club are hopeful that a deal will be agreed in the coming months.

However, if there isn’t progress, Juventus would consider a sale in 2025.

Arsenal and Chelsea continue to scout Dusan Vlahovic

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have a long-standing interest in Vlahovic, and they are keeping a close eye on the striker’s contract situation.

In addition, both Manchester City and Manchester United are long-term admirers of the £60m-rated Serbian, who has already played for his country on 30 occasions.

Vlahovic’s representatives have always maintained that he would be ready to move to England.

However, that remains to be proved following his decision to shun Arsenal in order to sign for Juventus back in 2022.

A situation to keep a close eye on, just as Arsenal and Chelsea are doing.

Neither side will be itching to replace their current number nines as stated, but there’s certainly room for more competition at both London clubs, who have big aspirations under their former Man City coaches.
