BBC MOTD pundit, Alan Shearer, was left blown away once again by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who kept another clean sheet as the Gunners saw off Southampton.
While pre-match talk was about the omission of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal put the distraction to one side and ended up cruising past the Saints. Goals from Alex Lacazette, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel ensured a fine day at the office for Mikel Arteta’s side.

But it wasn’t all one way traffic. Former Sheffield United stopper Ramsdale had to make a number of good saves to keep out Southampton. He was also spot on with his distribution, and that was one thing that really impressed Shearer.
“He was very busy. And he did everything right. Some of his saves were superb again,” Shearer said on MOTD.
“Good and commanding to come and take the pressure off his defenders. But, what about that for a pass? That is incredible. We know he’s capable of that and he’s done it before.”
Ramsdale has made a huge impression on proceedings down in North London. He was seen as a high-risk signing by Arsenal at the time. But since then, he’s become a firm fan favourite, something fellow MOTD pundit Martin Keown picked up on as well.
TBR’s View: Aaron Ramsdale On Course To Being Arsenal Legend
Well, if he carries on as he is and the club can climb back towards Europe. He simply loves playing football, and celebrates every goal and save like it means the world to him. And Gunners fans love it.
There is simply no question now that Arsenal made the right decision in signing Ramsdale. Save after save, and big moment after big moment are becoming the norm. If he carries on like this, then he’ll be England number one in no time as well.
