Report: Arsenal have agreed to sign 'phenomenal' defender for nothing next summer
Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, according to reports from Italy.
Il Romanista claims that Roma are keen on signing the impressive Ndicka. He has reportedly told Frankfurt he won’t be signing a new contract, leaving the door open for a free transfer.
However, Roma won’t be signing Ndicka due to Arsenal. Il Romanista claims that the Gunners have already reached an agreement to sign Ndicka in the summer for nothing. The Gunners have been tracking a number of players ahead of the January window, but a defender wasn’t thought to be high on their list.
But it appears Arsenal might have made their move to sign Ndicka ahead of next season. Should they do a deal, they’d beat a host of clubs to his signature, including Newcastle United.
Dubbed a ‘phenomenal‘ defender for his talent and performances in Germany, Tottenham are also known to have been keen on signing Ndicka.
Ndicka is part of a strong French contingent currently playing in Europe at the moment. Despite being so impressive, he is behind the likes of Varane, Konate, Kimpembe, and Upemacano in the France pecking order.
TBR’s View: Ndicka a fine Arsenal signing
If this is correct and Arsenal have agreed terms with Ndicka, then it’s a fine piece of business ahead of next season.
Yes, eyes are on January for now and the Gunners need to add new faces to keep up their title push. But Ndicka is a fine defender and he’s someone who could play a big part for Arsenal.
Ndicka is young enough to keep on improving and with Arsenal’s recent buys being of a similar ilk, it’s smart business by the club. Certainly, on a free transfer, there won’t be many better out there when it comes to the summer.
