Arsenal actually want to sell their ‘special’ Hale End graduate in January

Arsenal will insist that selling their back up winger Reiss Nelson this month, despite talk of a loan move away.

Nelson is once again being linked with a move away from The Emirates this winter. Despite signing a new deal at Arsenal, he is down the pecking order and only featuring off the bench.

Wolves hold an interest in taking Nelson on loan, while Brighton have also been offered the chance to take him off Arsenal’s hands as well.

However, it looks like any club wanting to take Nelson will need to put up the money for a permanent deal.

Arsenal will sell Reiss Nelson instead of another loan

According to CBS Sports, Arsenal don’t have an interest in loaning Nelson out anymore.

It’s claimed the only way that would change is if Arsenal were offered either a sizeable loan fee or, as is Arsenal’s preference, an obligation to buy.

The Gunners got Nelson tied down to fresh terms in order to preserve his value and they are now at a point where a sale is what they want in order to boost their FFP profile in terms of bringing in a new signing in January.

Nelson, 24, is one of Arsenal’s academy graduates from the famous Hale End. However, unlike Bukayo Saka, he has failed to really ever grasp a first-team slot.

January, then, could finally be the time for Reiss Nelson to make his move away.

Arsenal should sell to raise funds

Reiss Nelson is now 24 and it’s getting to the point where he needs to be playing or risk going stale.

There’s clearly a decent player in there. Mikel Arteta has lauded him as a ‘special’ talent and it now just needs someone to give him the chance to harbour that talent.

Quite who is willing to take Nelson on a permanent deal is open to debate. Clearly, Premier League teams would take him, while abroad is also an option, given he’s played with Feyenoord and Hoffenheim.

This one, then, is likely to crop up again before January is out.
