Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth this summer.
According to The Mirror, the Scottish livewire is high up on Unai Emery’s transfer wishlist, with Tottenham Hotspur having also scouted him.
Fraser has had a brilliant season for the Cherries, having scored six goals and made 10 assists in the Premier League so far this season.
Furthermore, he has created 71 chances in the top flight and 21 ‘big chances’ so far according to Squawka.
Those numbers suggest that he has been one of the most dangerous forwards in Europe, let alone the English top flight.
Arsenal’s reported interest is perhaps, therefore, not difficult to understand, but his signing could see an established first-teamer go back to square one.
Fraser signing could potentially have a negative impact on Alex Iwobi, who has improved greatly under the guidance of Emery this season.
The Nigerian winger was hit-and-miss under Arsene Wenger, but appears to have gone up a level this year.
He has made 41 appearances across all competitions so far, including 18 starts in the Premier League.
Certainly though he has not hit the same levels as Fraser this season. The diminutive £400,000 signing from Aberdeen (The Scottish Sun) has constantly bamboozled defences and has the numbers to boot.
Given the 4-3-3 system Emery likes to play, Iwobi’s game time would arguably diminsh if Fraser came in, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capable of playing out wide and Alexandre Lacazette through the middle.
