Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has received congratulations from Gunners teammates after he made his Brazil debut this week.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a superb season, finally making his breakthrough in Mikel Arteta’s line-up.

Martinelli hit the ground running at the Emirates Stadium in his maiden season.

He became the first teenage goalscorer to reach double figures for the club since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

For a while, the Brazilian remained on the fringes of the Gunners first team.

However, he has well and truly taken his chance this season.

This term, Martinelli has registered five goals and three assists from 19 Premier League appearances.

Better still, the Gunners ace received his first call-up to the Selecao for their last two World Cup qualifying matches.

On Thursday, with Brazil facing Chile in their penultimate 2022 qualifier, Martinelli came on as a substitute.

The Arsenal star played the last 15 minutes as the Selecao ran out 4-0 winners.

Martinelli took to Instagram after the game with the caption “inexplicable feeling… another dream come true”.

And Ramsdale was one of many to reply:

Brazil, who have already qualified for the showpiece in Qatar, host Bolivia in the early hours of Wednesday.

Arsenal fans will be eager to see whether Martinelli will feature again, or perhaps even start.

Martinelli still has so much room to grow. So this should be the first of many caps for the five-time world champions.
